VIDEO COURSE
BRINGING PSYCHOTHERAPY TO LIFE - THROUGH CARING CONNECTIONS - WITH JON G. ALLEN
Price: 15 Euro
It is a great honor for the Center for Mentalization to present this video course in collaboration with Jon G. Allen, one of the most influential theorists in the fields of mentalization and psychotherapy.
The video course is based on the fundamental idea that psychotherapy comes to life through caring and meaningful connections between people. The focus is on the therapist as a person and on the relational craft that extends beyond methods and techniques.
The course revolves around central conditions in psychotherapeutic work:
That the therapist’s personal development is inextricably linked to professional practice.
That care, emotional presence, and nonverbal communication are essential therapeutic tools.
That professional competence involves seeking professional knowledge, but first and foremost involves being able to meet the individual person.
Knowledge of the concept of care, how it is applied in relationships, as well as where the concept originates and is described in developmental psychology and philosophy.
Reflections on the therapist’s personal development, including how this development is shaped by the therapist’s own experiences in childhood, in adult relationships, in interactions with clients, and in personal therapy.
Introduction to moral and ethical domains in therapy and their significance for therapeutic responsibility.
Work with central elements of psychotherapy such as relationship, hope, and meaning.
The metaphor of the bridge as a framework for understanding the therapeutic relationship, where the therapist must both inspire trust and be able to support the client in moving from the therapeutic relationship into real-world relationships.
Presentation of the Slade Test, inspired by Arietta Slade’s thinking, where the central question is whether a therapeutic approach primarily helps the therapist to understand people and like people.
Can the concept be explained in everyday language to people without a professional background?
Does the concept inform the therapist’s own way of thinking and acting in everyday life?Key aspects of care in psychotherapy, including how security and emotional resonance are built within the relationship.Review of professional competencies with a focus on relational judgment rather than technical skill alone.
The course is aimed at therapists and other professionals who wish to deepen their practice and strengthen the relational foundation of psychotherapy.
The course is also intended for all professionals who work to provide care and support the development of vulnerable individuals.
Duration: 1 hour and 5 minute
